Retreats

Generally, Wesley offers a small evening retreat during the fall semester and an overnight retreat during the spring semester. This past fall we held a mini retreat titled “Created to be Creative.” The Spring 2010 retreat "The Journey" occurred on January 29-30.

If you are interested in organizing a retreat or helping out with one, contact Matt Thompson (mhthompson@wm.edu). There is no limit on how many retreats we can have! All ideas are welcome!

Silent Retreat to Holy Cross Abbey

Every year Wesley provides the opportunity for students to step away from the routine busyness of life to spend a weekend in silence, prayer, solitude and reflection at Holy Cross Abbey, a Trappist monastery in Berryville, VA (50 miles west of Washington, DC).  Wesley pays half the cost for first-timers and returnees pay full expenses for a weekend including two nights lodging in a single room and six meals.  Everyone is welcomed also to participate in the worship life of the monks and to attend any or all of the services offered throughout the day (beginning with Vigils at 3:30 a.m. and ending with Compline at 7:30 p.m.).  This is a wonderfully unique spiritual experience for most - one you won't easily forget and may find yourself quickly wanting to make a part of your own spiritual growth.
