- Wesley + Dining Sustainability Campus Cleanup (11/15): Saturday, November 15th - Meet at the Wesley house (526 Jamestown Rd) for Mellow Mushroom pizza at 12pm and then help clean up campus from 1pm to 2:30pm! - Interfaith Dialogue (11/15): Pooja Muthuraj is starting a new Saturday small group discussion: Interfaith Dialogue. Anyone of any spiritual background is welcome to join as we “explore faith and find common ground”. It meets in the Wesley Fellowship Hall every Saturday night from 7:00-8:30. Feel free to join us!
- Wesley Friendsgiving (11/16): Wesley will be having a little “friendsgiving” for Large Group this Sunday night! We are planning on eating in the Fellowship Hall from 5:00-6:00, then we will be hosting a study hour, where A Charlie Brown Thanksgivingwill be playing in the background. From there, we will leave for Mock Mehndi! (see information below)
- Mock Mehndi (11/16): Wesley will be attending the W&M South Asian Student Association’s Mock Mehndi celebration, which runs from 5:30-9:30 PM this Sunday. From SASA: “Mock Mehndi is a pretend South Asian wedding with catered dinner, performances, dancing, and more! Attire is formal, and cultural outfits are encouraged. This event is inspired by Pakistani student associations across the country. Join us for a free catered dinner from Spice Palace as well as performances from Afsana, Griffin Bhangra, and more! Bring all your friends for an evening of dancing, fun, and celebration!!”.
- Small Group: Marcus J. Borg (11/17): Our SG leader Eira is hosting this semester’s Wesley Small Group every Monday from 5:00-6:00 PM. The focus is on Marcus J. Borg’s Convictions: How I Learned What Matters Most, wherein Borg recounts what underscored the foundations for his faith: hope and transformation. This week’s chapter is number 11, the final chapter, “To Love God Is to Love Like God”.
- Ryan’s Roaming Hours (11/18): Wesley’s campus minister, Ryan LaRock, will be in Sadler’s Lodge 1 from 11:30-1:30. Enjoy a chat about faith, school, and more with a complimentary coffee (or other sold drink of your choice) when you stop by! His roaming hours are now every Tuesday.
- Vigil for Palestine (11/18): THERE WILL BE NO WORSHIP AT WESLEY THIS WEEK. Students for Justice in Palestine is hosting a vigil for Palestine/Palestinians this Tuesday in the Sunken Gardens at 7:00 PM. Our Campus Minister, Ryan LaRock, will be leading a prayer and speaking at the event. Stay tuned for more details from both us and SJP.
- Help with WUMC’s Homeless Shelter (11/19-23): Williamsburg United Methodist Church is planning on opening their doors to house the homeless from November 19th to 23rd. Please join us in assisting them in their efforts to provide support for these members of the community in a time of need: Assist with WUMC homeless shelter.
More Wesley Events and Announcements
- LDOC Bonfire with MSA (12/5): On the Last Day of Classes, Wesley is planning on hosting a bonfire event with W&M’s Muslim Student Association (MSA) at 5:00 PM. We will have s’mores! More details to come soon.
- Heritage Humane Society Crafts: Over the past semester, we have been making dog toys here at Wesley for the Heritage Humane Society. We are continuing to make toys as well as preparing to drop-off these creations for our canine friends to enjoy!
Food Exchange
- HOURS: Food Exchange hours are: Mondays from 11:00-1:00, Thursdays from 4:30-6:30, and Fridays from 11:00-1:00. Please call 757-229-6832 if you need any accommodations or can’t make these times- we want to serve you!
